River Stour News and Events – March 2013
A brief update and dates for future events.
The Stourbridge News has done a front page feature on the River Stour.
“Campaigner claims people cannot bank on river Stour plan for water clean up”
Margot James (MP for Stourbridge)
Margot James invited Rosanne to meet her to talk about future plans for the river. Karen Shakespeare of Halesowen Council was there. Margot did say she would kayak down the River Stour (as did David Harcourt of Waitrose) if we could organise a river ‘event’ to publicise its existence and condition. Anyone else for that? Last Clean-up Event
Below the Bonded Warehouse. As there was no growth in the Himalayan Balsam we did a litter pick while Paul, Wayne and Bob got into the river and did a clean up there. This very bad area belongs to Revelan property developers. I have written and sent photos to ask them to help us with a clean up.
Himley Hall Meeting
The meeting about the River Stour (and tributaries) at Himley Hall was brilliantly organised and left us feeling very optimistic. There seemed to be a real will to move things forward.
