Next River Stour clean-up event

Date:     Sunday 23rd February 2014
Place:   Probably the bottom of Furnace Hill, Halesowen
(where Haden Hill and Dudley Road, north of Halesowen)
To be confirmed (please contact rosanneadams@yahoo.co.uk)
Time:    10.15 for 10.30 start.
UPDATE:
  • Despite very iffy weather at the last event at Furnace Hill, we had a magnificent turnout of around 15 people.  Rain stopped river work but the heavily littered area following the river was cleared resulting in a good haul of bagged up rubbish.
  • Colin James and Rosanne have put up a river exhibition in Halesowen library.   I do hope lots of people will be able to see it as it gives a good picture of what the group is doing & its history.
  • Message In The Waves is a moving film about the effects of plastic in the ocean (particularly to wildife). If  our rivers are treated as a rubbish dump for plastic and pollution it will probably end up in the earth’s oceans. Message in the Waves will be shown at The United Reformed Church on Thursday 27th February

  • As we have moved up towards the source of the river it has been great to get such good support from Halesowen residents for the litter and river work in their area.   I’m sure together we can raise the river’s profile and make people more aware of how important it is to look after it and its environment.
All the best,
Rosanne Adams
